Build Up Your Credentials

I have a wonderful assistant. She helps me with many things she’s better at than me, offering valuable questions and suggestions about the practical side of my work.

The other day she suggested I’d share more about my credentials, which bought me to think:

Some of my worst advisors carried impressive PhDs.

Some of the people who changed my life for the better never finished school.

Some of my deepest insights came not from lectures but from someone’s presence.

Pivotal information has reached me through silence.

Many of the people who inspired me the most have no title.

And then I can of course talk about myself:

My Business Degree was a proof of doing what I thought I “should do.”

My Consultancy Career in London made me feel depressed over the rat race.

My first sense of true power came not from position, but from having the courage to do what felt right.

My Psychology Degree provides a comprehensive foundation, affirming much of what poetry, literature, and life had already taught me.

Being diagnosed with a heart tumour gave me a wealth no pay check could measure up to.

Academia is an integral part of my life and my work. It is an engine of structure, integration, critical thought, and human progress. Yet, my perspective is, that education alone does not offer wisdom, nor the peace or courage required to live an authentic, conscious life. And if you ask me (and Socrates and Sartre!), a fulfilling life is one where you are true to thyself, and not external measures of success.

If you would like to work on cultivating those other credentials, I would love to help.
